How Does Trenchless Technology Work

TLC is always working to provide our customers with options that make pipe repairs and replacements as easy as possible. We know when you have major problems with your plumbing it can be very frustrating. TLC plumbing professionals are using trenchless technology systems to repair and replace underground plumbing for homes and businesses in Albuquerque. This new technology saves time and money. The biggest savings can be direct to the home or business owner because we no longer have to dig long trenches to replace the pipe. This saves on labor and avoids damaging yards, sidewalks, concrete or asphalt. Minimal digging is required so your yard can remain intact.

Our expert plumbers locate an open point to enter the existing pipe through either a manhole or dig an entry point and exit point. The new flexible pipe is pulled through the existing plumbing system using steam and heat that keeps the pipe flexible. Once the pipe is run through the existing pipe it begins to cool and form and completely covers the old broken pipe resulting in a new pipeline.

What Types of Pipes Can Be Repair with Trenchless Technology

This type of trenchless pipe replacement is called thermoform and can be installed through any existing pipe material including clay, brick concrete, steel culvert, and cast & ductile iron.

What makes this a better option?

This type of pipe repair and replacement uses a continuous pipe with no joints between entry points. This prevents root intrusion and exfiltration which is a common problem at the joints. It also has the following benefits:

  • Can replace pipes up to 36 inches in diameter
  • Faster installation than traditional repairs
  • Greater ability to conform to pipeline irregularities
  • Accommodates reasonable variations in diameter, pipe shape and size transitions
